TC1200 Tactical Flashlight

TC1200 Tactical Flashlight

We recently brought in the TC1200 flashlight. If you are all over survival websites today you will see this light and various others that look just like it. Light is key and having numerous lights in key places is a smart idea. One in each vehicle, a few around your property and One in your own Bug Out Bag etc.

The TC1200 Tactical Flashlight is manufactured by 1TAC and was released earlier this year.

Before we summarize the key features of this flashlight, we need to make it clear what makes a tactical flashlight different than any other flashlight you may have at home.

Tactical flashlights should be suitable for use during warfare/combat situations, which means they must be:

Extremely durable
Able to emit a high amount of light
Relatively small, easy to carry, and have good grip
Made of high quality materials such as aircraft grade aluminum, titanium or special plastics

In short, tactical flashlights might cost more than the one you pick up from your local hardware store, but in an emergency, it will provide you the reliability and protection you need.

So how does the TC1200 Tactical Flashlight stack up in these areas?

Durability
1Tac states that the TC1200 is extremely durable, and its construction ensures the flashlight is protected from drops, impacts, scratches and rusting, in addition to having a waterproof casing.

Features:
Premium Type III hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish
Toughened ultra-clear glass lens with anti-reflective coating
Unbreakable high transparent acrylic UCL optical lenses in the flashlight head
Shock-resistant LED light

Light
1Tac describes its TC1200 as one of the brightest tactical flashlights available on the market.

This is supported by its specifications. Lumens are the measure of brightness levels, and this one packs a 1200 lumens punch.

The flashlight has an LED light, which is extremely popular due to the amount of light it produces, while using less energy and all within a smaller package. The LED used in the TC1200 is from the well-known Cree brand.

Features:
Cree brand XLamp XM-L2
Max Lumens – 1200
Lamp Life 100,000 hours
Strobe to disorientate attackers

Size and Design
The TC1200 Tactical Flashlight is described as lightweight and compact, and at 5.09 inches and 5.6oz, we can’t disagree.

Is has a tail switch meaning that it is controlled from the base of the torch and conveniently allows one-handed use.

Features:
Anti-roll, slip-resistant body design

Materials
The TC1200 is made from aircraft grade aluminum alloy, the same material used to make aircrafts.

Features:
Weatherproof O-ring and gasket sealing on flashlight head and tail cap
Copper cylinder switch on tail cap

General Features
The TC1200 Tactical Flashlight has 5 modes: low, medium, high, strobe and SOS. The strobe is intended to disorientate attackers, whilst the SOS will attract attention in emergency situations. The modes also mean that you can switch between high visibility outdoors, whilst also allowing you to switch to a lower mode for use in enclosed spaces, so you don’t blind yourself.

The torch also boasts the following features:
Uses 3AAA or Lithium battery
Adjustable zoom of light – up to 500 meters
Remembers last brightness level when switched on again
Overheat protection
Attaching head that can be used as a hammer

1TAC offers a full refund within 30 days for broken or defective flashlights, and a refund within 30 days for change of mind (if you contact them first, pay with postage for its return and with an 8% restocking fee deducted).

Our overall impression of the TC1200 is it’s a solid flashlight. It is strong, durable, operation of the flash light is straight forward. One thing we would have liked to have seen with the light is the button that controls the different beams be silent. Should you find yourself in a situation where silence is critical we feel this maybe to loud. This is the first thing the Chief noticed when he and I were discussing the tactical flashlight. Everyone’s needs and expectation are different. We would encourage you to bring in the light and give it a run through.
